Multi award-winning singer, actor, broadcaster, comedian, Shaw (‘our finest’, The Times) celebrates his 60th at beautiful Hall One. A dazzling night of music, stories, ace surprise guests from music, theatre, radio, comedy and TV. Ensembles such as the RNCM Jazz Collective and Big Band provide opportunities to perform to public audiences throughout the year, with our Big Band regularly featuring distinguished guest artists.

Recent vistors include pianists John Taylor, Gwilym Simcock, Alex Wilson, and Nikki Iles, guitarist Mike Walker, drummer Clark Tracey, trumpeter Ryan Quigley, and singers Clare Teal and Matt Ford. He performs with many different ensembles including the Elliot Galvin Trio and Dinosaur. He released a critically acclaimed debut album ‘Dreamland’ in 2014 and was awarded European Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2014. Upon joining Trinity Laban’s Jazz Department, you will enter a vibrant and dynamic community of improvisers. Though grounded in the jazz tradition, we are constantly looking forward and we invite you to draw on a wealth of diverse influences within these traditions, and reinterpret them in new ways as you find your individual voice. We will support you as you develop as a musician, an improviser and an innovative performing artist, enabling you to reach your full creative potential.

In turn, your support will preserve the jazz heritage of the past and ensure its future. Fergus McCreadie’s music has a distinct Scottish feel, as you’ll gather when hearing his trio perform.. Emma Johnson’s Gravy Boat Gravy Boat is a contemporary, cinematic jazz quintet led by Leeds based saxophonist and composer Emma Johnson.

A Standard Afternoon Enjoy an afternoon drink with live music from London-based instrumentalists and singers performing jazz standards. Jazz is a collaborative process, growing organically from diverse musical cultures. Fundamental to the process of becoming a jazz musician is the art of reacting to and supporting each other.

Our staff, drawn from London’s exhilarating jazz scene, play and perform with students, replicating the feel of the wider jazz community. In both 2015 & 2016, the PizzaExpress Jazz Club was named ‘Venue of the Year’ in the London Lifestyle Awards. It has previously won Time Out and Parliamentary Jazz Awards, and was named by Downbeat magazine as one of the world’s great jazz clubs. The venue has hosted performers ranging from Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse and Gregory Porter to Benny Carter, Rick Wakeman and Brad Mehldau. PizzaExpress Jazz Club is an award-winning London music venue in the heart of Soho. Since 1976, the club has presented thousands of world class musicians in its intimate, basement setting.

The Editor’s Choice albums from the April issue of Jazzwise, featuring Theo Croker, Joy Ellis,… Our address is 10 Dean Street in Soho, and the venue is just South of Oxford Street, next to Soho Square. The nearest underground station is Tottenham Court Road , but we are also within walking distance of Leicester Square and Oxford Circus underground stations.

Following the success of https://www.anatoliabrookline.com/ Time, the College has been working in partnership with the Arts Council of Wales to take our students and leading international artists on tour to arts venues across Wales, each term. The summer term culminates in a jazz festival at the College and both the festival and tour offer students a platform to showcase their work to new audiences and gain valuable professional experience. Previous headliners include Quercus, Jean Toussaint’s Roots and Herbs, Vento Em Maderia, Get the Blessing, John Taylor and Darius Brubeck Quartet. The department also regularly performs at jazz festivals across the UK, including London Jazz. Performance platforms include the hugely popular student-led Jazz Time sessions every Friday evening, attracting a large and loyal public audience.

The National Jazz Archive requires a great deal of skilled work to conserve, catalogue and digitise our collections, and make them accessible to researchers, writers, journalists, students and jazz enthusiasts through our website. Expert staff are needed to manage and develop the Archive to professional standards. On y va jazz band Unfortunately, due to some repair works taking place upstairs following the flood we suffered at the beginning of the month, we won’t be in a position to host “On y va” Jazz Band performance this weekend.

Harnessing Edinburgh’s kaleidoscopic creative talents into a massive offering of year-round live gigs, there is something for everyone in this multiple award-winning basement venue. Without doubt the most celebrated gypsy jazz guitarist since Django Reinhardt and arguably the finest jazz guitarist in Europe right now, the Dutch Sinti Gypsy Stochelo Rosenberg has performed at the world’s major jazz festivals. Renowned for his melodic and warmly lyrical trumpet playing, Chris Batchelor has been composing music for almost as long as he’s been performing, and will introduce Zoetic at Kings Place. London five-piece, Ezra Collective, featuring four Trinity Laban alumni and one current student, have released two EP’s and toured them across the UK and Europe.

She was awarded a 2015 Parlimentary Jazz Award for Jazz Instumentalist of the Year.
