Since their formation in 2007, Empirical have steadfastly maintained their position as one of the UK’s most exciting jazz ensembles. Individual tuition is offered on bass, drums, flute, guitar, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, voice and other instruments by agreement. Group classes focus on the rehearsal of material from a variety of genres under the jazz umbrella, including standard, contemporary and world repertoire.

Louise Dodds Quartet Scottish jazz vocalist Louise Dodds will be making her debut at The Vortex tonight performing songs from her latest album ‘The Story Needs an Ending’ as part of her UK tour. Released in March 2022, the album is a deeply personal collection of songs written and arranged by Louise, which are both moving and uplifting.
